Planet Rock - it is not

Digital radio station Planet Rock, a message:
It is a sexist male hang, you never (or only ever once in a blue moon), play female vocals on your boring radio station, and hardly ever play anything we haven't heard before.

You play the songs Radar Love, Don't Fear The Reaper, Stargazer by Dio ONLY, and ilk, constanty repeated are Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, the Black Crows,  Blackstone Cherry, ONE song by Alter Bridge (they've done 3 albums so far!), Aqualung by Jethro Tull (god, they've done more than just ONE song!)
Bob Segar (he's not rock), Aerosmith (ONE song repeatedly), AC/DC. That's it.

What you don't play and could is: Leaves Eyes, Winger, Fiona, The Strawbs (especially The Actor, Soldiers' Tail, and Burning for You if you want metal-ish songs), Juilianna Hatfield, 10,000 Maniacs, Coal Chamber, Therion, Iced Earth, Inkubus, Camelot - without giving too much away, there are tons more to be played.
Yes, yes some of this might be unknown to you, or old, but you don't play it.

Voodoo Six are copy-rock, predictable, and fake and you love them dispite the over-strained lack of vocal ability the lead 'singer' posesses.

This message comes from a person who loves rock/metal.
My 'rock-block' would be so deeply emmersed in rock you wouldn't know where you were going, you poor dears.

Planet Rock DJs are especialy clueless.
There's no variety, no knowledge behind song-descriptions, no energy (the segments are presented like the DJs are absorbed in nonchalant jokes), it's all just grating predictable chiche- take a listen to Voodoo 6's new one, that says it all. Nothing creative going on there then.

Marat/Sade

22/10. RSC. I saw it, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. (More on this later.)

SVT Sweden is so good - but funny google translations

Headline: "I was so angry that I almost got horns" - I didn't read the article but I believe it has something to do with money. On the other hand she might have actually said this.

"Actress Sverrir Gudnason reveal their theatrical practices [sic]" - Sverrir is a man, and damn good in Wallander (Krister Henriksson not Branagh), he's now at the City Theatre Stockholm.

I love Rolph Lassgards' Wallander though, he had edge - first version, before Krister Henricksson.

Now I'm on the subject of Wallander, (and believe me I could write about the original Swedish TV programme forever), here's a thing: The British version made more story around Kurt Wallanders' father who is very much in Wallanders' life in the books - played by David Warner, who even looks like Povel.
Police officer Ann-Britt, central to the investigation team in the books, is made to shine in the British version, I think the Swedish version could have made more of this character.

But love is this, in Swedish Wallander: Tobias Aspelin playing a priest, Shanti Rooney, Jacob Ericsson popping up to play suspects in a murder case (Ericsson's character did it!), Ola Rapace as Stefan Lindemann, Tomas Haman (not the right name, but close) turning up as a sinister construction manager in one of the most gruesome episodes, magnus roosmann as a 'but of a lark'/rougueish/no nonsense police officer, and much much more (when I remember).

English Democrats, UKIP? Excuse me, did I just hear that? Oh please - p*** off!! The British Isles is part of Europe and the European Union. Plus, I've said it before and I'll say it again; no 'English caucasion' person is purely 'white' or of Anglo-Saxon descent. 'The English' are a mixed people, many invasions and immigrants (which is no way a bad thing) later; stop being precious about being English. People are all just people, and we populate the Earth, the Earth is what we should be looking after, not petty nationalism.

bigoted and narrow-minded - what people should realise

What i heard today: "there's too much american programmes on british tv today, where are all the british programmes?" (he was 21YO) Excuse me, did i just hear that? How olden day, old fashioned, stupid little england pre-war can you get? (come on insult me im ready for you, 'if it weren't for the fallen we'd all be speaking german blah blah blah', just dont stuff 'the war' down me throat, not everyone is bothered about it, but thats a different story).

actually -
'we' as in human being are everywhere, we are international, we celebrate being american, armenian, icelandic, irish, french, brazillian, polynesian, chinese, african etc etc. we encourage culture and relish learning about other identities and ways of life. We should not be insular, we should be encouraging our fellow people to be successful. We realise potential in every culture whatever they may be wanting to achieve. Participate, do not put up barriers, or fence yourself in.

And lets face it, what 'english' person is really 'pure bred'/white/anglo-saxon? the english are mixed and that is not a modern phenomenon.

Comment - mixed up parents & individuals

I am always sickened when I hear, on the street: "What shop do you want to go in now *young so&so*?" - hold on a minute? Did I just hear that? The mum (usually) just asked the 5YO if she wants to go into yet another shop? Excuse me but: 1. S/He is a child, that means they don't decide what shops to go in. 2. How dare you 'teach' your child that continuously buying up the shops is OK, it's not OK, why don't you take them swimming instead? 3. Do you want them to grow up obsessed with the shallow/worthless activity of shopping and to have no inner strength? 4. Children do not care what they wear, it's you, the 'nothing-better-to-dos'' that do. Pathetic.
Everyone needs their inner capabilities, their education, their inner voice, strength, power, independent mind, journey to the top, cultivation of human values and morals; if you parents carry on like this you will create a spiritual-less, spiritless, shallow, depressed, unfortunate failure, obsessed with clothes/what others look like/buy, a dependent android, a shadow of a human being. Just like you.
Every day your children are forming opinions and developing a view of their parents, so you 'shop obsessed' want your children to think you are that low?
We do not need to perpetuate social-constructs in the present/next generations (mostly women) who are insecure; society needs more strength and equality, it needs academics, scientists, artists, police, designers, politicians, thinkers, etc who do, and do well. People are changing the world now, but on a micro-scale the high streets are full of these negative people who leave it to school to teach their children.

Let's act now to stop children growing into what we all see on the streets:
Chavs, porn 'stars', models, cigarette-smoking unhealthy teens/adults, neurotic shop-aholics, insecure non-achievers, frightened employees, bored adults...I can't go on, it's too bad.
Let's all get rid of the male who flies into a temper when someone starts a constructive dialogue with him because he can't get his own way (blame his parents), let's stop this male (sometimes female) from shouting in the face of reason, let's stick him to the ground with his strawberry bootlaces (yes this fe/male is a sweetie-eater, and that's juvinille). Parents, help your children to grow up so they don't become a social nuisance, so H/She doesn't abuse/bullly others because H/She's been spoilt as a kiddie, help your children to handle criticism, converse with reason and intelligence, and create positive futures/happiness, guide them not to stamp their 30YO feet because a fellow bumped into their car with a zimmer frame, try to make them into compassionalte individuals who have confidence in themselves because they have made their lives good. There.

Parents: Stop teaching your children 'how to shop', stop making shopping and buying things important and start making a meaningful existance for your child/children. Stop making clothing, toys, material posessions paramount. Encourage education, positive self-thought, active lifestyle, fostering interest in life and nature appreciation, teach children about right and wrong ways to treat people, teach manners, politeness, ambition, achievement, effort, and self-reliance. Teach children that having a good mind and knowledge is the most richest valuable thing you can possess, this will breed self-reliance, self-security, self worth, a bright future, and career/personal confidence.
Stop this behaviour and worthlessness, and do not create any more bullies for society to have to cope with - go get a soul.

But there's much, much more than this to come.

This is written because I have encountered millions of adults who are utter, utter CREEPS (and worse), and yes, all the negative things in this post I am sure they experienced, I am not fond of children, but one thing I really hate (and try to avoid them) is adults behaving stupidly. utterly hideous; all you stupid people (sheep), please take a good hard look at yourself, and CHANGE.

Female body

A quick entry that will be honed later -

What annoys me are: The 'warnings' you get at the beginning of for example television programmes that 'female nudity' would be shown during the programme, excuse me, did I just hear that? This 'warning' should never even be concived of - what is there to be warned of in the female body? does the female body surprise you? does it offend you? (if it does you're weird)... this warning is bundled together with warnings such as 'warning scenes of plastic surgery' and 'warning scenes of violence', this 'female body' warning is completely unfounded, offensive, and totally disproportionate. it teaches kiddies that the female body is 'other' and maybe fobidden and dangerous, what about teaching men and women respect for bodies as a whole, not warning them about it. have you never seen a naked woman before? will you never? why is this victorian indecent attitude to nakedness retained in 2010? How dare people who write these 'warnings' group the female form with warnings about operations and sexual explicity etc. what is unnatural about female (and male) external sex organs? lobby the tv stations who 'warn' that nudity is shown to stop using these warnings. per-leez, hjaelp.

TOTAL.

The darkness; it's compelling, the gothic, the Grand Guignol, the gravel under foot, the raw shaping of lust... yes, it's just a play, it's over after an hour or so, but you know... feel the shadow-world approaching, grrrrrrr!

Water

Something I have known forever and now want to declare it! :-
Water that comes from your tap in the Thames Valley (London, Homecounties...) is the best in the UK. It is hard water, which is better-tasting than soft water (Wales), some areas have fluoridated water which means the drinker will benefit from better dental health. Bottled water (Evian, Volvic & ilk) is horrible in comparrison. Totally-tap: Thames Valley tap water is packed with refreshing energy.

Comment - Grammar, no, don't turn off!

These are Americanisms British people seem to have taken on board not only in speech but in writing, these expressions are wrong, and I'm sure there's more, so here are their explanations, please don't copy them!

"I will write you" Meaning: "I will write to you". This Americanism feels like someone is going to use you as a pen or use you as a writing pad.

"Up comming" Meaning: "Comming". Something, such as an event or a season which might be almost upon us, is not 'up' just as well as it is not 'down'. It is ahead of us, therefore if you must augment 'comming' with another word, how about "fourth (comming)"?

"January through August" Meaning: "...From January to August/into August". January does not travel, wind, or mix into August, there are 8 months between them (or less considering what your start and end dates are). What you should say is: "I will be working on the project from January to August", or "Beginning in January ending in August". Even if you write/say: "In January through to August" the phrase still sounds alien, purely because 'through' is not precise: do you mean until the last day in August, or mid-August?
What you can say is: "I will be working through the night", but "I will be working on the project all through August" still sounds befuddled. You should just simply put: "I will be working on the project in August", or "From January to August". 'Through' is surpurfluous.

Not really an Americanism, but wrong speech nonetheless -
"Our / Hour / Are" When saying 'our' do not pronunce it like 'are'!!!!!! Pronounce it like 'hour'. You do not say "6 ares", you say "6 hours"; likewise there is no such thing as "Are bikes", there is only "Our bikes".
The Primary offender is UK TV presenter Kate Humble.

Copenhagen Post (www.CPHPost.dk)

All those EX-PATS (IE. non-native Danish, esp. those who do NOT come from Europe; you US-citizens know who you are) who post comments on the news stories on the website of the Copenhagen Post 'slagging off', criticising, being anti-Denmark, and generally dragging the country through the mud should: GO HOME! Meaning, return to the country you were born in, you obviously do not have proper jobs in Denmark, and are ungrateful for a European country that gave you permission to live there, nay, you should be SENT home. Get lost.

Reality - so there

Short stream-of-conscious entry provoked by the bad journalistic and absent research ability / skills of Nick Merrgerinson; 'Mr I don't know, mmmm, not sure about that, errrr I don't think I can let you say that' (LBC DJ, spelling of name might be inaccurate).

The oral contraceptive pill (it's many varieties), can:
- stop PMT/PMS
- illiminate/reduce water retention
- stop/reduce headaches, period-related
- lessen blood loss
- illiminate/reduce muscle contractions/spasms/cramp/various aches and pains
- conveniently delays your period
- treats skin problems, such as lessening/illiminating acne
- reduce period-related depression, or depressive behaviour/feelings
- inturn, reduce period-related anxiety, and build-up of emotion which can hurt those around you.
If you take the right one for you.

Plus, you do not have to be over the age of consent to be prescribed this (yes, Merrgie) because some young teens start their period too early, or have other conditions, you do not have to take it exclusively for sex (you need to use a barrier contraceptive for STI protection in any case), but it is good for this.
Society cannot take away benefits to the 'under age' just for the few that will use the pill for under age sex, that would not be fair.

Women take the oral contraceptive pill ('The Pill'), Women take Lavonelle ('The Morning After Pill') it is women's right and choice to do so, and doctors' liberty to prescribe the former. Women will take it always - put that in your no-brainer pipe and smoke it, Merrgie.

The truth just has to be told - that The Pill is a good thing, in most cases [I know, I need trusted sources to back up claims]. It can relieve period-related symptoms. Apologies for those of you who do not get on using the pill, I am sure you make informed decisions about your sexual/other health, so that's cool with me if you disagree. Some sections of society attach moral/ethical arguments to the pill, but this entry is not about that, it's about a DJ being annoying!

Stop making 'issue' over the pill, stop pretending it's contraversial, and stop believing these stupid newpaper articles (Daily Mail et al) who 'doubt' the 60s' generation who rightly first applauded it's freedom and benefits. The pill has come so far, and like all medicines is continually in review (such as tests which assures its' quality), improvement, and make-up.

Speak openly, give knowledge, expand your own.

So there.
